About Chas Townley

Chas lived in Kidderminster for five years and was actively involved in the Kidderminster Civic Society serving as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Architecture and Environment Committee.

After leaving school at 16 with few qualifications, Chas served an electrical apprenticeship with Daniels, an engineering company in Stroud Gloucestershire. Later he was a Youth Hostel Warden and worked for a number of companies in engineering and telecommunications. Chas studied Housing and Development as a mature student at the University of the West of England - Bristol. In addition to obtaining a 2:1 Honours Degree he obtained a national prize from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for his dissertation on rural housing issues. He worked for a Worcestershire based Housing Association for six years working mainly on policy and new projects including the development of a supported housing project for young people in Herefordshire. He is currently helping a local council implement the Government's Supporting People Initiative.

Chas is married to Linda Townley. They have two young children and live in Stroud
